Swim Team Update for 2022 Season 04/29/2022
Hi Ducks!
I hope that all of you had a wonderful spring break and are getting ready for summer! The summer swim season is quickly approaching, and I am so excited to share all of the information with you!
Swim Team Sign Ups
Our swim team sign up date for this season is Sunday, May 8th from 2:00-4:00 PM at Arcadia Pool! Sign ups for this season will be very similar to last year. On Sunday, May 8th, you will receive an email with a Registration Google Form. This online form must be filled out and submitted for each swimmer that is signing up for the swim team. If you are not able to attend sign ups, no worries! You do not have to physically attend the sign up date in order to register for the team. We will also be set up at the pool before and after practice during the first week to accept new swim team sign ups and answer any questions.
Swim team dues for Arcadia Pool members this year are:
-
$50 for your first child
-
$40 for each child after that
Swim team dues for non-members this year are:
-
$100 for your first child
-
$80 for each child after that
Swim team dues will be collected during the first week of practice and at swim team sign ups. Swim team dues need to be put in an envelope with your swimmer’s name and the total amount due written on the outside. Dues can be paid with a check made out to Arcadia Swim Club or cash (exact change only).
The official sign up email will also contain a link to our online team store! This team store will include our team suits and goggles. We will have an official team suit for this year! Swimmers do not have to purchase this suit, but I do recommend for all female swimmers to have a one piece suit.
Our online registration form will also give swimmers the option to purchase a latex or silicone Arcadia Ducks swim cap. All swimmers new to the team will automatically receive a latex swim cap as a part of their registration.
Arcadia Ducks 2022 Summer Schedule
The schedule for this summer is attached to this email. As the season goes on, we will announce dates for team pictures as well as our end of the season celebration. Due to the threat of evening thunderstorms throughout the summer, there is a chance that this schedule could change or practices could be cancelled. In order to stay up to date on any last minute practice cancellations or swim meet updates, please sign up for our Arcadia Ducks Swim Team Remind if you have not done so in the past. The instructions to sign up for Remind are attached to this email. This is the same account the team has used in previous years.
Practice Information
Our season will be back to normal at last this summer! Swimmers will be able to attend morning practice, evening practice, or come to both if they would like to! This summer, our first day of practice will be Monday, May 23rd. We will only have evening practice from May 23rd to May 31st. Morning practices will start on June 1st. Most weeks, we will practice Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday unless there is a holiday that causes us to miss practice on Monday. If we do not have Monday practice, it will be made up on Tuesday evening.
Swimmers ages 10 and under will practice at the following times:
-
Morning Practice: 10:15-11:00 AM
-
Evening Practice: 6:00-6:45 PM
Swimmers ages 11 and up will practice at the following times:
-
Morning Practice: 9:30-10:15 AM
-
Evening Practice: 6:45-7:30 PM
Swim Meet Information
In addition to practice being back to normal, we will also be back to having our Davidson County Championship Meet this year! Our league has seven teams participating this year, and our regular season will consist of three dual/tri meets before the championship. We will have meets on the following dates:
-
Tuesday, June 14th - Home Meet vs. Midway and Brookside
-
Tuesday, June 21st - Away Meet @ Denton with Reeds
-
Tuesday, June 28th - Away Meet @ Lexington
-
Friday, July 8th (11 and up) and Saturday, July 9th (10 and under) - Davidson County Championships (more details to come!)
Dual/tri swim meets are on Tuesday afternoons and warm ups will normally start around 3 PM. If there is inclement weather, swim meets could be made up on a later day during the week or we could delay the start time if there is an end in sight. Swimmers must attend at least one of the dual/tri meets in order to be eligible to compete in the Davidson County Championships. For the County Championship Meet, swimmers ages 11 and up will compete on Friday afternoon and swimmers ages 10 and under will compete on Saturday morning.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some frequently asked questions that may be helpful.
Q. Is it okay if I am gone on vacation for a week during the season?
-
Absolutely! Just make sure to indicate on the registration form that you will not be able to attend the meet that week.
Q. What if my swimmer doesn’t know how to do any of the strokes yet?
-
It is okay! As long as your swimmer is comfortable in the water and is able to swim independently, we will take care of teaching them the strokes!
Q. What if my child is not sure if they want to be on the swim team?
-
Your child is welcome to come to a practice during the first week and see if they like it before committing to the team!
Q. Does my child have to be at every practice?
-
No, they do not. I recommend for swimmers to attend at least two practices a week, but they are welcome to attend more if they would like to!
Please feel free to reach out to me via email or come to sign ups if you have any additional questions! If you know of anyone else that is interested in joining the swim team, please feel free to forward them this email and put them in contact with me!
I am so excited to start another season together! Keep an eye out for more information on Sunday, May 8th.
See you all poolside!
Coach Rachel
